A native of Georgia, Shelby has always loved playing outdoors with her brothers and participating in various sports. “I have always been a very active person, but never realized what my body was capable of until I found CrossFit.” After discovering CrossFit in July of 2009 Shelby was immediately hooked. “I was so bored and unsatisfied with my workouts and the lack of results. CrossFit changed my view of what real fitness is and I have never looked back.” Shelby has a constant desire to improve her fitness level, as well as help others to achieve their personal fitness goals. “My weight has always been a struggle for me, especially after having a child. I had tried numerous diet and exercise programs but was never satisfied with the results.” Once Shelby started CrossFit she began to achieve the results she had been seeking. Shelby had also found a new way to challenge herself physically and mentally on a daily basis renewing her competitive spirit. Shelby even recruited her brother Shane into the sport of fitness to fuel the family’s competitive spirit. Shelby believes that, “health is a lifestyle choice that requires a mix of passion, discipline, and fun”.
What got you started in CrossFit?
I got started in CrossFit when my friend Liz returned from Iraq. She kept talking about CrossFit and how she wanted to go but not alone. She persuaded me into to trying it out and instantly I was hooked. My first work-out was a Mini-Cindy which felt like the longest 10 minutes of my life. It kicked my butt and I’ve kept coming back for more since then.
